Morpheus 8 vs. Vivace Ultra™: Which One is Right For Your Patient

Morpheus 8 and Vivace Ultra™ are both popular non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments that use radiofrequency (RF) microneedling technology to improve the appearance of wrinkles, sagging, fine lines, scars, and other signs of aging. However, there are some key differences between the two treatments that may make one a better choice for your patient than the other.

Morpheus 8

Morpheus 8, FDA cleared in 2017, is a an advanced treatment that uses a fractional RF microneedling device to create micro-channels in the skin. These channels allow the RF energy to penetrate deeper into the skin, where it can stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. Morpheus can also go beyond the skin (as deep as 8mm) to treat and destory fat tissue as well. Morpheus 8 can be used to treat a wide range of skin concerns including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage

Morpheus 8 is an effective treatment for deep wrinkles and scars. However, it is also a more expensive treatment and may require more downtime.

Vivace Ultra™

Vivace Ultra™ is a newer, advanced treatment that uses a fractional RF microneedling device combined with ultrasound to see the depth of the skin to be treated. Vivace Ultra™ uses a robotic motor to insert the needles, resulting in more patient comfort. Morpheus 8 uses more of a puncture, “staple gun” type mechanism to for the needles into the skin. Vivace Ultra™ is less effective than Morpheus 8 for fat reduction on the body, but it is also less expensive and requires less pain and downtime.

Here’s a side by side comparison of Morpheus 8 versus Vivace Ultra™:

Which treatment is right for your patient?

The best treatment for your patient will depend on your individual skin concerns and budget. If you have severe sagging or a large double chin, Morpheus 8 is the more effective treatment. However, if you are looking for a less expensive treatment with less downtime, Vivace Ultra™ may be a better option.
